Our Story

The Community of Saint Mary Magdalene began with a journey of faith.
In 2015, during her Catholic baptism, our founder, Claudine Tohouri, received the baptismal name Mary Magdalene. Shortly afterward, while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel, she experienced a profound calling to dedicate her life to serving vulnerable families and children.
What began as a personal mission to support unemployed women in New Jersey gradually evolved into an international humanitarian organization.

On March 25, 2025, the Community of Saint Mary Magdalene was officially established as a nonprofit organization committed to serving vulnerable communities with compassion, integrity, and hope.
Today, our organization operates in both the United States and Ivory Coast, delivering practical assistance to children and families who need it most.
We started as a small interior design firm in downtown Michigan, aiming to help home buyers make do with the new space that they had acquired. It soon became obvious that it would make sense to help our clients see beyond the walls and floor plans and be there with them from the get-go. Currently, we offer house realtor, interior design, and architecture services in order to help our customers find their forever homes as seamlessly and painlessly as possible.

Our mission

To uplift orphaned and parent-separated children across Africa and the United States by providing essential care, emotional support, nutritious food, clothing, education, and medical resources—especially for children living with disabilities—while restoring dignity, belonging, and hope.
